About/History of Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers FC were formed in 1874 and at that time were called Christ Church FC. During the 1920’s Bolton were a successful cup side winning the FA cup three times. In 1958 they went on to win the cup for a fourth time thanks to club legend Nat Lofthouse scoring 2 goals in the final. Following this triumph the club endured a lean spell culminating in a spell in the 4th division in 1987. After an absence of 15 years the club regained top flight status and two years in 1997 they moved from their home of 102 years, Burnden Park, to their current residence of the Reebok Stadium. Bolton’s current stint in the Premier League began in 2001. During this time the club reached the League Cup final in 2004 finishing 2nd to Middlesbrough. The club also reached the last 32 and last 16 of the UEFA Cup in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons respectively.
